Andrew Jean-Baptiste released

The New York Red Bulls have waived center back Andrew Jean-Baptiste, the club announced today.

Jean-Baptiste signed with New York ahead of the 2015 season after a successful preseason trial. The Brooklyn native made one appearance for the Red Bulls in the U.S. Open Cup match against Atlanta Silverbacks FC.

The Brooklyn native was drafted by Portland in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. He spent two seasons with the Timbers before being traded to Chivas USA, where he spent the 2014 season. Jean-Baptiste has made 41 MLS appearances overall.
